Design & Technology Teacher Training.

Design & Technology is a multifaceted subject with the drive to inspire and support the development of young people to become creative problem-solvers and makers, who understand the man-made world. 

Are you a trained Designer or Engineer, or it is your passion and hobby? Can you share your enthusiasm, expertise and know-how to inspire the next generation who will shape the world we live in? We are looking to recruit specialists in Food & Nutrition, Electronics (Systems and Control), Product Design (Wood, Metal & Plastics), Textiles and Engineering.

As a D&T teacher you will train with 1 or 2 specialisms, depending on your background and experience, these are subjects you should be confident to teach to GCSE and A-Level. You will also be expected to teach across all specialism areas at KS3. During your training we will strengthen your area of expertise and enrich your subject knowledge with hands on training sessions in all subject specialisms.

Cristie graduated with a 1st Class Honours in BA Product Design and went on to achieve a MDes Social Design at the Design Academy Eindhoven in The Netherlands. Since then she has experienced working in industry as a designer before training as a D&T teacher in 2013. Cristie has worked in a range of different schools and as a KS4 examiner. Cristie’s passion for D&T education is what has driven her to taken on the role as SCITT Design & Technology Subject Pedagogy Leader.
