Teaching Students the benefits of learning languages in today’s society is more important than ever. Students must see that being able to speak a second language is a skill that can improve their job prospects and widen their horizons. In Debbie’s 16 years of teaching, she has been lucky enough to see how learning a language has changed student’s lives, whether helping them gain a place at an outstanding university or working in a European country. Programme Specific Elements.
The Modern Foreign Languages course, here at The John Taylor SCITT, has been planned to give you the skills and confidence to thrive in the classroom and inspire a new generation of linguists. The course combines a practical focus from theoretical perspectives in MFL teaching which will help you to develop a personal approach to your own MFL teaching. It provides many opportunities to receive individual feedback in a supportive environment as well as, offering collaborative opportunities to develop your subject knowledge to make you an effective and reflective teacher. Trainees will learn how to embed best practice into their MFL teaching such as modelling, chunk learning and retrieval practice and how to make your students better learners using new technologies. The course provides a detailed approach on how to teach GCSE and A level as well as teaching grammar and how to inspire culture in a positive learning environment.
